Context Menus Fail to Open (Version 2.3.0 (2.3.0))

I think I mentioned once before that I was having a hard time removing videos from the Virb Edit Clips area, but now it's completely impossible for me to remove any because I never get the gear on the videos any more even when I hold down "Control". I was using a Bluetooth Keyboard and that was working for the longest time, then I stopped getting the gear, so I went back to the wired Mac keyboard and I still can't ever get that gear.

I probably have 100 video clips in the library. Perhaps this has something to do with it?

"Control" is still working for the sake of copying - I was able to go to Virb/About and copy the version number from the About window.

The only abnormality I've noticed in these views is that the show-on-hover gears/overlays don't show up mid-scroll. Is it possible that you're accidentally scrolling ever so slightly while you do this? This'd be easiest if you were on a mouse that supported gestures, like the Apple Magic Mouse, or something like that.
  • It's extremely unlikely that I was scrolling each time to cause the lack of context menu. Once or twice, perhaps, but I've had this problem for weeks now.

Looking into this, I've found that ctrl + clicking specifically on the gear in the video thumbnails will fail to open a context menu, because it's a button. Similarly, ctrl + clicking on the time text or title of a clip will fail to load the context menu there. In both cases, right clicking or ctrl + clicking on the thumbnails should still open context menus.

If you have a mouse that supports right clicking and do that instead of ctrl+clicking, it does _not_ have these issues. So that's weird.

Does that match what you're seeing now?

We'll try to fix this in a future release.
  • I think you may be right. I was right clicking on a two button mouse until the mouse stopped working a few weeks ago, then I went back to my wired Mac mouse which of course is a single button. At that point I assumed "Control" clicking was exactly the equivalent to a right mouse click. Apparently it's not.

As long as I drag the cursor over the clip thumbnails while Control clicking, I get the context menu.

It would be great if you could make Control clicking be the exact equivalent to right clicking.
