I want to use Virb Edit to make maps of running courses. I don’t see a Distance gauge, which to me would be a pretty basic item. Am I missing something?
FALAGAR has the distance gauge under investigation. The distance could be calculated but what is the starting point and what is the endpoint? You could start at the beginning of the video or at the beginning of the clip, or even at the beginning of the track (if you have a long track with just some bits of video). The same issues are for the end. So the first have to figure out what they will take for the calculations or maybe make it user adjustable. It can take a while before these gauges will be available because at the moment their highest priority lies with the reliability of the program, getting it to work for everyone.
Typically I'm mapping a 5 kilometer course with a pre-determined starting line and finish line. So, to answer your question, the starting point is the beginning of the track and the endpoint is the end of the track. I use a bicycle and start from a dead stop at the starting line, and come to a complete stop at the finish line, then stop the gps recording.
This would be a great addon indeed, hope the stability and function-issues will be solved soon so this can be added, would be appriciated by a lot of users :)
There is a distance and time gauge available in the latest release of VIRB Edit. You have to choose a template then add a gauge to the template for each (drag and drop).
