VIRB Performance in Cold Weather

I must say I am impressed with how well the VIRB and its battery hold up in cold weather. It was wild here today with high winds and blowing snow, so I thought I'd stick a couple of cameras out to get some video and the cameras lasted almost 3 hours each in the cold.

This was even more impressive since one of the cameras had been left in a glove compartment of our car for the last two days, and the temps went down to -20C overnight. I didn't do anything to prepare that camera after it spent the night in the cold - just started it up and got some video with it.

I took 15 minutes of the video and sped it up 800% in VIRB Edit, and uploaded it here:

No audio, but I'm sure you can tell the wind was blowing. Too bad the Tempe data didn't record; it was showing on the camera dashboard.

My GoPros would never have lasted 1/2 the amount of time the VIRBs did out there. And they would have fogged up when I changed battery. Sure glad I no longer have a GoPro!
