Virb Audio

Sorry if this is in the wrong place but I can't see a hardware forum for the Virb.

I've used my Virb on 2 rides now attached to my bike with the Garmin bike mount and cradle.
On both rides the audio is appalling. On the first ride I gave a running commentary, which you can barely hear.
All I can hear is background road/bike noise which is totally unusable. It would be better not to bother with sound.

Is there anything I can do to improve the sound quality.

Hello again.

Well I've just done some testing with and without the cradle, and it seems that the cradle is the issue.
I've just had a search and noticed that there is a wind block adaptor for the cradle.
Has anyone tried this on a road bike and does it make a difference?
It seems it could be just as bad due to road noise etc.

OK another related question.

Is the wind block just a replacement for the ones on the existing cradle, or is it better.

So maybe this will help you but there is a little cusion in the back of the virb cradle that is muffling the sound. Here is a video from Brad that talks about your audio issue - http://youtu.be/SULxuuZ_EUs?t=1m33s

And I believe that the wind block is just a replacement for the one already on the cradle(but not 100% sure).

The wind block is just a replacement. No good idea, that the sound has to creep through the tunnel in the mount to reach the microphone...

Muffler

Thanks for the response. Watched the video on Youtube. That explains a lot.
Will try again at the weekend and will remove the foam muffler.
