Latest VIRB Edit (5.1.0) crashes (DO NOT UPDATE TO THIS VERSION)

The latest VIRB Edit (5.1.0) crashes each time I try to import any FIT/GPX file to the video. If you need to add overlay to your video, I suggest do not updating to this version until it's fixed.
  • Hi changrenyong, sorry to hear you're having issues with VIRB Edit. Could you post the crash log (either here or in a PM to me) that you're seeing with this issue?

    Ughhhhhh!!!

Dude! SOOO FRUSTRATING!!!! Virb is so glitchy for me and I saw the update like "Hey! Maybe it will make it better!" NO....CRASHES EVERYTIME I try to make an overlay!!! So bummed Garmin! How do I revert the update?????
  • I am also having crashes.

I have sent the error reports using the automated dialogue that appears.

The problem occurs when I try to associate a fit file from my VIRB with an .mp4 video import from another camera.

It shows me the track of the fit file but when I confirm that it is correct VIRB edit crashes.

After that the video can no longer be opened and hangs VIRB edit or crashes it.

Can the s/w be reverted to 4.23. I have the .dmg file but will I lose any data? I read somewhere that the database has been updated and can't be reverted?
  • Yes, the 4.2.3 db version is 3 while 5.x has DB version 4. The bigger problem is that location of the GMetrix data is different between the two app versions. It's complicated to move back and forth and easy to lose data.

We are working on fixes for these issues and will hopefully be in the next maintenance release. I'll let you know if we do a beta of the maintenance release, so you can get your hands on a fix sooner than later.

Thanks that would be very helpful.
  • QA

Guys, do you make SOME QA before making a production release?????

It's an absolute dissaster! Give at least the previous version to download
  • I can't even open a video after the update. File imports work but that is it..... Completely useless to me at the moment.

Please add me to any Beta notification, or instructions to back level ! Tks
  • I did downgrade to 4.2.3.

    My issue with 5.x:

After export, audio get glitch so is not posible to use thar render.
Get lines in fades in/out or disolves.

    In 4.2.3: when export to 30fps i get 29,00 instead 29,976fps
And export to 60fps i get 59,00fps instead 59,94 fps
    Same on 48fps. i get 47,00fps instead 47,976

In 5.x for 30fps now works ok, I get 29,976fps

But export at 60fps I get random fps.

All this issue makes video imposible to move to conform for VFX or color gradin because those fps like 29,00 are not standar timebase so app like Davinvi Resolve get the audio un-sync.

I suspect that it's not responding well to my mix of the Virb Ultra and the VIRB Elite. If they are abandoning compatibility with the VIRB Elite, I wished they would have let us know before I recorded 6 days of video that I need to edit. It crashes as soon as I touch the VIRB Elite video. I submitted a support request.

How does one get previous versions of VIRB Edit?
