Unable to export to MP4 since upgrade to 4.2.3

Good Day All,

My first post here!

I have installed and then reinstalled the latest update of Garmin VIRB Edit on my MacBook Pro.

I am unable to export any video's to MP4. It asks where to save the exported file, after choosing the location it goes to the export screen but then just hangs there, I left my machine for 4 hours on the export screen for a small 10MB video and the progress bar hadn't moved one bit.

Anyone else have this issue? Or know how to fix it?

Have a great day!
  • Video export error 12551

virb edit in Apple IMac stoped exporting video's made bij Virb Ultra 30. There is a 12551 error (OSStatus fout 12551) Please help....
  • I haven't seen any export hangs in a while, but they were often related to an issue with the audio. You could try muting the audio (changing volume to 0%) for all the clips in the video you're exporting.

For both issues, if you host the individual clips that comprise the video being exported to a cloud based file hosting service like dropbox, then I can try to recreate and see what's going on.

Thanks Wurth, I'll give the sound mute a try this weekend,

I am having the same issue. Worked fine before the upgrade, now it hangs with the exporting bar not moving. A zero byte MP4 file is created, and VIRB Edit CPU usage stays at 0%

I tried muting audio, and also turning off G-metrix. neither made any difference.
  • You know I ran into a similar problem the other day where the system was unable to get system attributes when determining the export destination volume type. Could you open the application 'console' and look for any messages spewed once you get into this hang state?
  • G’day Folks,

I talked to Garmin and had to send my Ultra in for service.

It appears on my Mac Sierra computer that the original clips coming from the virb are already faulty, seems like a sound encoding error.

I also noticed that some photos taken with the virb cannot be displayed on the virb itself, I can see a thumbnail but opening the thumbnail results in a black screen. Imported pictures to the computer are all fine, no problems.

Maybe the last firmware update via the Virb Edit app bricked the camera partially.

Any new findings from your side?

    Thanks!
