Virb Edit Freezes Mac

Would like to report potential bug or incompatibility with my Mac.

VIRB Edit will freeze [my computer] occasionally and force me to perform a hard reset on my MacBook Pro (OS X El Capitan 10.11.4).

The error occurs only when I am forwarding frame by frame through a video.

This has occurred at least 20 times in the last month, however with no apparent link to the speed of forwarding or the use of any other programs. Yesterday, the same use did not cause the error whereas today the program froze twice in the span of 10 minutes of use.

The same VIRB Edit version is downloaded onto another computer in my work space. This computer (iMac OS X El Capitan 10.11.3) has had no trouble with bugs/errors/freezing with the same work being performed using the software; there are [seemingly] insignificant differences in processing speed and other hardware between the two computers.

Any suggestions?

I occasionally will get my Mac frozen using Virb Edit, but it seems to happen only when I click several times too quickly on the "step forward" button. I'm leaning toward it being some sort of memory issue. I don't seem to have issues when I don't click through so quickly. Will keep an eye on it.

    Freezing VIRB

I would love to see a resolution to this! I have the exact same problem and have to do a hard reset on my MacBook Pro at least 3 times every day because of this. It happens without warning and forces me to lose all data that I am working on in other programs when this happens. It works fine on my iMac, but for some reason, it is a consistent problem on the laptop.

    same freeze problem

Not sure what the pattern is here, but my apple (MacBook Pro, OS X El Capitan Version 10.11.4) also has this problem. Oddly enough, my friends with "desktop" (sorry, normally a PC user ;) ) apples do not have this problem. As a previous poster said, the freeze always happens when clicking the forward button. Often it happens when trying to click quickly, but the fact that it happens at all is very annoying.
  • Could you add some details on the video you guys are editing when this occurs (length of video, number of clips, playback speed, resolution of clips, music added, transition use,etc.. )? Thanks!
