Probably a stupid Q

Hi Guys

I've just edited my first little video clip from my XE in verb edit 3.4.0, and it looks like it's playing back at double speed.

I think it was filmed at 1080 / 50, but when I selected export I had it changed on the settings to 720/25 I think to reduce the file size down

Did I need to move the tortoise / hare slider down to 50% before I exported?

It kind of looks dumb to see the bike speed overlay in single figures when the road is whizzing by.

Hi,

I'm a little confused. Does only the exported video play back at double speed, or does it play back at double speed within the VIRB Edit player?

The whole video looks too fast in the app and on youtube to me.

Its' as if I've somehow opted to speed the footage up during the edit even though the speed slider is on 100%

Yeah, that does look sped up a bit.

To help narrow down the problem,
- right click on the clip in the VIRB Edit media library, then select 'show in finder'.
- double click on this file in finder and see if the playback looks any different that what you are experiencing in VIRB Edit. The file in finder is the raw video file that was imported from your camera.

If QuickTime is playing back the raw video file the same as VIRB Edit, then the issue may be with how the video was recorded and we can pursue that route. If the the raw video file plays at a normal speed, then if you could host the raw video file somewhere like dropbox, then I can grab and see what's going on with VIRB Edit.

The very least you can try is as you suggested, select a slower playback speed (tortoise/hare slider).

Hi, thanks again for the reply @wurth

The clips look as quick in finder when watched on quicktime player too. In all honesty the clips are from mostly the faster sections of the ride with speeds around 40KM/H and sometimes above when going down hill.

I think it was recorded 1080*50 and converted to 720*50 in verb edit.
