Move video files to another folder

I would like to move imported video files from the default folder (~/Movies/Garmin) to another one, on an external drive, to gain space on my main drive. If I change thru Preferences - Change movie locations (not sure about the English, I am on the Italian language setting) the new folder I choose will be used for the next import (I guess) but it doesn't move the existing .MP4 files from ~/Movies/Garmin. Is there any way to move those files and have Virb Edit to automatically find the new location?

I have tried to move manually one .MP4 file from the original to the new location, when I try to access that file I got the message that the file is not found, I search it in the new location but I got the error message that the file doesn't correspond to the original one ...

Changing your clip library path should prompt you to move your video files over to the new path. While I was trying it out I noticed it didn't prompt me on a few occasions, which is a bug we'll look into fixing in the next version. If that happens, changing the video library back to what it was and changing it again was enough to get it to prompt again.

Failing that, it should work if you close VIRB Edit, move the videos to where you want them, start up VIRB Edit (they'll all be in a missing state), then change the clip library path to where you moved them to.
  • Thank you for the suggested workarounds. Unfortunately none of them work. I have tried the first time to change my clip library path, and once I was prompted to move my video files over to the new path, but I wasn't sure of the results and so I declined. Since then, I have tried multiple times but I never got the same prompt again ...

So I have tried the other options, but unfortunately the files in the new folder are not recognized as valid, I get an error message like "The selected video does not correspond to the existing video. Try again?". I am now stuck, I cannot find a way to have Virb Edit to recognize the clip files in the new folder.
