[h=4]Changes made from version 3.2.0 to 3.3.1:[/h]
  • Added support for merging G-Metrix data from different sources (like adding cadence from an Edge to VIRB X acceleration).
  • Improved reliability and performance for displaying G-Metrix.
  • Improved usability and reliability of Garmin Connect integration.
  • Added support for choosing between FIT speed, calculated 2D and 3D speed.
  • Re-added time display to G-Metrix Sync and Activity Start Time pages.
  • Improved speed of loading G-Metrix templates.
  • Added elevation data to GPX export.
  • Added support for photo and video library existing on different physical storage devices
  • Improved El Capitan support
  • Performance improvements

Download page here.
  • You may have seen on the Forum, that the G-Metris is now not showing in videos, even though it's clearly in the Garmin .FIT file. Was working in previous versions, not in this one. As well, the gauges don't look the same the way they did before, and the way they look in the gauges list of types available.

I see you also posted in the Windows VIRB Edit forums about this yesterday (Sunday). Are you also seeing this on Mac or just on Windows?
  • Accidentally posted on Windows section, but I'm on a Mac. This issue worked just fine before the new release

I'm looking into this problem, but I'm having trouble reproducing it. I have a few questions that should help narrow it down:

Is this a problem with a video imported in 3.3.1, or was it imported in a previous version?

When you say that the overlays aren't working, do you mean that they aren't showing any data (all the values are "--"), or that they're not drawing on the video at all?

In the G-Metrix tab, what does it show as the start date for the data?
  • This may have been my error. I started my Garmin a few minutes into the workout but now I don't know how to align the timing. The 3 metrics I use are Heart Rate, Cadence and Speed (Cycling in a Velodrome) So, when playing with it a bit, the HR and Cadence show but not the speed.

How would I attempt to align the times?

  • If everything's working correctly and the original VIRB .fit file is associated with the video, everything should sync automatically when you add the Edge .fit file afterward.

It sounds like everything isn't working correctly, though, so you can use the "G-Metrix Sync" button on the G-Metrix tab to shift the start time of the .fit file relative to a point in the video. You'll get a warning if the app thinks it's already correctly sync'd. Just advance the video slider to a frame where you know the time or can see that the data matches (like the speed hitting 0 as you stop), and then adjust the data slider until it matches what you expect.
  • Since the last few releases of VIRB Edit, I can't get any data into my videos.

I had already made about 5 videos before these releases so it worked before.

Using a GoPro Camera, EDGE 1000 Garmin, on a Mac. I filmed an event last night, Velodrome bike workout, just like the other events I filmed. My Garmin shows all the data I want in the movie, Heart Rate, Speed, Cadence. In VIRB Edit, only heart rate shows, and the gauges don't look the same as when I choose them from the Guages list as they did in previous movies. (Meaning the gauges are all colour in the Gauge list, and then grey in the video.

You can see some of the previous ones here. https://youtu.be/AwG8pgiR8MA

I was looking at some other .FIT files I have and it seems that perhaps this is an issue of me turning off the GPS as I am training indoors, but in those videos where GPS is off, it's only providing Heart Rate and Weather, whereas in the ones where GPS is on it shows all the metics I need.
