Version 3.2.0 (150831.1517) Out Of Application Memory and Tracks Way Off

I recorded a video yesterday and when imported into Virb Edit, the time is way off on the track. Possibly a camera problem. So I connected my Montana 650 to get the track from that and when VE gets to the stage of loading tracks it just sits there forever, and finally kills my Mac.

This is the screen I get when the system is nearing death:

It never completes loading the tracks. I have to quit everything to get any response at all, starting all apps over again.

Virtually anything done in VE is incredibly slow. Importing videos, editing a video, they all slow my system to a crawl. I was able to edit a two minute video yesterday, successfully, but at every stage I had to just walk away and let the computer churn on, hoping it would work, but not switching to any other program as I was sure it would crash VE or the computer itself.

It never did this in the past. VE always worked well. What's going on?
