I have created a route between Norwalk Cove Marina (CT), and Lincoln Harbor Marina (NJ). I just don't see a starting waypoint icon and an ending waypoint icon in order to actually create the route. I plan to sail this route and wonder if it will transfer into the garmin 178c plotter. I look forward to becoming more active in this channel as questions arise.
It should transfer with no trouble to your device. Post here again if you have any issues. As for the starting and ending icons can you take a screen shot of what you are seeing?

There are no special starting and ending points. The route starts with the first point and ends with the last point. Each change of direction is also a "point".
Be aware that your device has a limit on the number of "points" a route can contain while HomePort does not. Your route may have too many points to upload into the device. The work around is to break the route into multiple routes. Follow the first, then switch to the second, etc.
