Hi Folks,
Just got my Oregon 550 to use for some sailboat racing. Think 16 marks "A", "BB", etc that we sail around entered as waypoints. Then 12 different routes through those waypoints / marks.
I have tried several ways to organize and transfer the waypoints and routes - one list, separate lists, - with both basecamp and homeport, but every time I get a duplicate waypoint listed in the waypoints list for every route in which the waypoint is used.
For instance, 8 routes use "START", 8 waypoints named "START" exist, 4 routes use "BB" = 4 "BB" waypoints. But only in the Oregon though. The listing of the device in HP or BC looks good. Happen evens if I delete all routes and waypoints in the Oregon before I transfer. But if I create a route in the Oregon, using the existing waypoints, I don't get further duplicates.
But here's an interesting thing, EasyGPS free doesn't have this problem. What he receives from the Oregon, even when the Oregon is showing dupe waypoints, does not have dupes. If I wipe the waypoints/routes from the Oregon, take the gpx export of the waypoints and routes from HomePort, load into EasyGPS, send to the Oregon - shazam! - all routes and no dupe waypoints.
I have wasted much and more time trying to figure out what is happening. I may be doing something wrong, but it seems to me that HomePort and BaseCamp are doing it wrong.
Anyone have any ideas here? - Thanks, Kirk
