Curious to know, what handhelds will interface with Homeport? Looking at their list of 'compatible devices' , only the GPS78 series is listed. That can't be all!
Although I have an older GPSMap 76 and it does not show up as a device on the homeport screen when I plug it in - my Chartplotter (740) does. It's an older serial port connection, had to use a serial to usb adapter as none of my systems have a serial connection anymore. Homeport did not recognize it, but Win7 said it was there. So I downloaded EasyGPS and it saw the unit just fine. I was able to get my waypoints off it by importing them in EasyGPS, saving to a GPX file, then importing into Homeport. But really, what a pain in the arse. I made sure my software in my GPSmap76 was up to date (it was), made sure the drivers for the serial to usb adapter were currant (they are) and no idea what else I can do do access it thru Homeport.
Are other handhelds (etrx, montana, etc...) able to be used from within Homeport without the hassle I am going thru with my GPSMap76? It may be time to upgrade...
