Homeport won't use Garmin SD card?

I recently bought Homeport and a Bluechart G2 southeast caribbean sd card. The Bluechart was used off of ebay for fairly cheap since I have no real use for it. My wife and I are going on a eastern caribbean cruise in a few months and I used to cruise there so I thought sticking the card in my eTrex 20 would be fun. I put the card in my laptop's card reader and fired up Homeport and could only see the basemap in the eastern caribbean. The color of the islands changed from blue to yellow but that was the only indication. The Bluechart showed up in Homeport's menu of available maps and Homeport said it was using it. Annoyed I took the SD card out and put it in the eTrex and the caribbean charts were there. I had copied the files off the SD card to a folder in the Homeport folder as a backup and remembered reading while the charts are tied to a specific SD card when used in a GPS, Homeport just wants to find them on an SD card. I copied the files to a blank SD card I had and was surprised when I launched Homeport to find the caribbean charts on my computer. I still would like to know why Homeport won't use the actual Garmin Bluechart card. The caribbean maps were just for fun but I have the bluechart g2 for the whole US coming and will be using the eTrex in small boats around my home in Florida. Any ideas?
