"Find" Tool Bar

Is there a way to turn of the "Find" tool bar and have it stay off the next time the application is started rather than having to close it each time?

I know BaseCamp had (or has) the same issue, and it's been fixed for 4.0, so the fix should make its way into HomePort as well at some point.
