Am I locked into only Garmin Maps?

Just purchased Homeport, thinking I can develop some sailing routes this winter while waiting for spring when the boat comes out of mothballs. Problem is my Garmin 5212 Chartplotter is 600 miles away. What other methods can be used to load a detailed map into Homeport other than again purchasing new Garmin maps? I presume NOAA maps aren't an acceptable substitute.

I would try to contact Garmin customer support, explain your situation and see if there is anything they can do to assist.

Another, possibly simpler solution is to find someone in your area with a Garmin plotter and ask him or her to download the maps to an SD card that you supply. It doesn't have to be a 5212, I suspect any of the 42XX or 52XX series plotters would work and possibly others that use the SD card format.
