HomePort and Bluecharts

I have a 276C Plus with Bluecharts on a pre-loaded Gamin memory card.
The Bluecharts work perfectly on my GPS.
I have no trouble connecting my GPS to my computer and viewing my routes and waypoints, however, I cannot view the detailed charts from my bluecharts.
I have tried leaving the pre-programed Garmin memory stick (with Bluecharts) in the GPS and also tried with a USB card reader.
Just can't see the Bluecharts.

Sorry...I am new at this and sure I am missing something fundamental.
Thanks for any help!

I should have mentioned....I am running windows 7
The Garmin USB card reader does not seem to be recognized as a device when I plug it into a USB port. I do hear a normal sound that something has been plugged in but cannot see it anywhere.
  • I am not positive of this, but I believe the Garmin USB card reader is not compatible with Window 7. There may be a fix for this or maybe not. You could contact Garmin tech support, but they may have stopped supporting devices as old as yours.

Try the USB reader on an older PC, one running an older operating system.

Also be sure you have the latest Garmin USB Drivers installed.

Any resolution to this? I bought a Garimn G2 card because Garmin told me that the DVDs where no longer available, but I could view the download the Garmin G2 data on my PC from my 276C with the Homeport software, that I also bought. On the mac, there is an option to transfer the map, but it is greyed out. On my PC(Win 8), there does not seem to be an option to download specific items(i.e. routes, tracks, wayports, maps), just seems to indicate "internal storage" which is likely those items minus the mapcard.
I did install the latest USB drivers and updated my 276C to v4.7
