7212 Route, Trip, and waypoint names?

I have a set of old trip, waypoint, and route data from some old garmin units that is now in HomePort and working correctly. I want to move it to my new 7212. It is all in CAPS and a single string of characters:

20040529ACKLINSTRIP

I want to rename them:

2004-05-29 George Town to Acklins

Will the 7212 accept longer strings, small letters, spaces, and dashes?

I can't answer your question, but I have a suggestion - Try it and see what happens. You can't hurt anything by trying. Just make a backup copy of your routes before renaming them. You only have to rename one or two to see what happens.
