A query, for which I'd be very grateful ;)

I have Homeport downloaded on my laptop. I've transferred all my routes/tracks etc from my Garmin 76CSx to Homeport. I have my BlueChart g2 SD (taken from my Garmin) in its cassette inserted in my laptop. I can see all my transferred routes, etc, but not Homeport's nautical charts I'm expecting.

Any advice would be most appreciated! (Warning: I'm not a sophisticated computer lassie!)

Maybe a little more context will help to answer your question...
HomePort doesn't have any nautical charts 'in' it. It does have a base map (Global Map), which is a very basic map without nautical info. HomePort displays whatever map you have on your device. In your case, I would expect HomePort to show me the map on the SD card when you insert that SD card into my laptop.

HomePort should display the charts from an SD card. Are you talking about a G2 Vision card? Homeport will read it.

If not, you have to copy the charts from your plotter to an SD card. Homeport will read them as well.

In the upper lefthand portion of the computer screen you should see a listing of what is on your SD card. A map should be one of the items displayed. Click on it.

    Answer to Ron:

Thanks, Ron. Once my SanDisk 4GB is inserted into my laptop, I do get an extra map. It's titled: HXUS039R-US g2 v2011 v12.50, which is the label on the outside of the chip, with Bluecharts g2 on it.

It does change the maps I see, but it's still not the nautical charts I was expecting.

    cheers

I have the Garmin connected to my laptop via the USB port, and my Bluecharts g2 disc is in the Garmin. I few months ago I downloaded a file to my Garmin, prepared on Mapsource, of the west coast of Florida. When I now look at Homeport, that area of coast does show as a "nautical chart" with all the routes/tracks etc on it. But the rest of the world still shows as the basic map.

When I transferred the Mapsource data to my Garmin, with the Bluecharts disc in it, could I have erased all the world Bluechart info on it?

I wonder if this quote from the Homeport help manual has anything do to with my problem:

"Only charts purchased on a CD or a DVD can be installed using HomePort. Charts purchased on an SD card or included on a Garmin device cannot be installed through HomePort."

I have to wonder where you read that, because it's not the case. HomePort will read charts (maps) downloaded from chartplotters (I can speak of the 5208) and will read the G2 Vision cards that can be purchased seperately.
