Copy Routes and Waypoints from Homeport to GPSMAP 4208

Hey Folks,

First time poster, be kind!

I have been using Homeport lately to mark favorite fishing sites and routes on the PC. The problem is getting the new information from Homeport into my GPSMAP 4208. I tried exporting the data to an SD card and inserting the card into the 4208 slot/card reader. Then I selected "Merge" on the 4208 menu for USER DATA. The device seems to read and reports that data was transferred from the card, however the waypoints and routes do not exist on the navigation chart view.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for the help!
  • Ok this is a slow process I guess...

I thought the posters would be all over this one. Maybe this problem is unique to my system?

The homeport software does write a file to the folder, but it has a file extension that is different from what the 4208 writes out...Maybe this is the problem?

    :)

    welcome to the forum!

To transfer your data to the SD card, simply drag and drop the data to the SD card from within HomePort. (instead of using Export)

On the top left, you will notice that HomePort will show your SD card as a connected device. You would select whatever data you want to transfer and then drag it to the device you want.

Or, you can select the data you want to transfer and then right mouse click; select Send To; and select the device you want to send the data to.

After you connect your SD card to your device once, the device will write out a configuration file to the SD card. When you use it with HomePort from then on, HomePort will show you the name of the device itself instead of telling you that you have a generic removable media device.
  • Thanks that worked great, the export function was the problem!
