Say "Bye" to "My Collection"

I'd like to see the programmers get rid of "My Collection." I can see NO useful purpose to have all of the files that I opt to import, assembled into one gigantic file with EVERYTHING included. If I want to export several files (of my choosing) to my GPS, it is easy enough to put them into a folder or just drag each of them to my card writer....... "My Collection" just complicates things.

@ MACHRIA, we understand what you are asking for and have that feature in the list of features we would evaluate for the next feature release.

@Chief Trip, I wanted to make sure I understood what you are talking about here. The model of usage is different between MapSource and HomePort. MapSource is a document viewer, where you open each file you want to work with and close it on exit. HomePort maintains a database of your userdata; you don't open and close documents each time. If you are trying to use HomePort as a document viewer, (if you frequently open up files, view/edit them and archive them away), you can still do that in HomePort. You would import the file, view/edit it, export it and then delete it from HomePort. You don't need to have all your data in My Collection at all times.

When you say 'My Collection' complicates things, if you mean the same thing as @machria ( without sort/filter feature, it isn't as easy to find what you are looking for ), I see what you are talking about. If it is something else, please let us know.

Thanks. I appreciate your reply. I looked at the "library" from YOUR point of view and it does seem make sense. Old habits die hard.....I used Blue Chart and it's file system for a long time.......
