How do I save a created route? and if I am creating a route and go to another cursor to do something else how do I restart adding waypoints to the current route?

How do I save a created route? Routes are saved automatically as you create them. You could either go to File->New->Route or click on the icon for 'New Route' in the toolbar (the New icon in the attachment). As you draw your route, they are saved. If you are asking how you can save it to your device, you can drag-n-drop it to a connected device.

You can use the insert tool for this. The insert tool is the icon to the right of the New Route icon in the attachment. You can find out what actions each of those icons perform by hovering your mouse over them. A tooltip will come up telling you what those icons do.
