I have installed HomePort v2.0.3 and whenever I start up the program, it constantly and non-stop keeps trying to look for something on my floppy "a" drive.

It will not stop.....

What do you think is causing this behavior and how can I make it stop ?

Thanks

Do you have an "A" drive?
Is it permanently installed or a detachable drive?

PRATZERT, this is a known issue. HomePort does not need access to your floppy drive and should not be reading it. This issue will be addressed in a future release.

It's a permanent 3.5 floppy drive built into the desktop PC.

I see that I got a response that it is a "known issue" and will be addressed in a future update.

Hopefully it will be addressed int he very next release.

    Thanks.

Do you still use the "A" drive?

If not, disconnect it and see what happens. Most computers built in the last few years do not have an "A" drive unless one was specified.

If you still need the "A" drive from time to time and unplugging it solves the problem with HomePort, consider purchasing a USB prtable "A" drive and just connect it when you need it.

    Hi Ron!

Your answer to Pratzert, proposing to disconnect the A drive from his computer, is very poor :mad::mad: !
The much better advice would be not to use Homeport, since Garmin is not able or willing to resolve this issue. I would expect a great appology from Garmin for this really stressing issue!

It is the wrong way even to think of changing the hardware because of an issue with a (licensed and bought!!!) software!

Yes... I do still use my "A" drive.

I will have to wait for Garmin to fix the issue, until then, I will not be using my HomePort.

I don't post advice or suggestions to win a popularity contest, just to try and help. I suppose it's because I was in the industry, it seems simple to me to pop the cover off my PC to see if unplugging the "A" drive would solve the problem.

Computers no longer come with floppy drives, USB drives and SD cards have made them obsolete. This has been the case for several years. We cannot expect companies to support obsolete equipment forever. Think DOS or Windows 95 or 98.

NeoLite has indicated that this issue will be addressed in a future release. I suspect this is an issue that affects very few users. If the OP cannot wait, I would still suggest disconnecting the "A" drive, at least for a test. His other option, of course, is to not use the software. Or, buy a current model computer.

    A-drive problem

I encountered the same issue although I didn't have an A-drive. But it was enabled in BIOS and it made my Homeport slow and unusable.

When I disabled the A-drive in BIOS the problem went away. So even that you shouldn't need to change your hardware or BIOS settings in order to make a program run as intended, in this case it solves the problem.

Unfortunately Garmin support wasn't able to guide me in this direction so I had to figure it out myself.
