Can't Delete WP's/Routes/Tracks from a Oregon 400c

Happy New year folks!! You didn't think the new year would keep Birdman away, did ya? :D

If I connect the Oregon 400c, and run Homeport, I see all my data on it, and can copy to and from it no problem. BUT, I can't delete anything from it. To remove anything, I have to disconnect it, re-start it, go to Waypoints (for example), find the WP, then select DELETE. Then, reconnect it, and continue on.... Same for Tracks and WP's.

I also see it lets me copy data to the memory card I have installed in the 400c, but I can't access that data from the 400c in any way. Will that ever be a feature? The ability to have multiple sets of data (folders) on the 400c and be able to load any of all of them? (like we can do on the 5215 for example).

PS- another small issue I noticed, if I "Send To" allot of data to the 400c from HP, it shows that it is done in just a few seconds, but if I disconnect the 400c, I get a Windows error: "Data lost on removable media...." because it really wasn't done yet copying the data. Give a sign if possible when it is ok to disconnect a device after a data copy.....

    Happy New Year Birdman,

You are correct- the Oregon 400c behaves unlike the 5215 and other marine devices. It does not allow deletion of data from anything other than the interface within the device. It also does not support multiple sets of data as the 5215 allows. It won't let outside clients edit data in the device either.

The message with data copying from Windows that you mentioned is unexpected. Do you know if data was indeed lost on the device? If any data that you sent to the device shows up on the device, all data would have made it across. This is because all data that goes to the 400c goes into a single file and if any part of the file is not copied correctly, none of that data can be read.

If data was lost, let us know what version of Windows you are using and we will look into it.
  • Per 400c, ok thanks. No biggie except it would make it MUCH easier to re-load data if we could at least delete stuff from it. Deleting all its WP's is easy enough as that is a menu option on it. But the only way to delete all the routes is bring each and every one up, edit, then delete. that's a PIA. ;)

From what I can tell, I didn't loose any data, but not 100% sure. I have about 500 WP's and 20 routes that I copy to it. About 20 seconds later, I disconnected the USB connector and got the error. It would be difficult to check if exactly all 500 WP's are there.... but it does look like it.

Windows XP Pro, latest SP and updates. Is there any other OS? :D
