Homeport Incredibly Clunky and Slow

I have two PCs, both with XP, 2GB RAM, DirectX 9, latest drivers. Homeport is unbelievably slow, like it is running in DOS. My PCs exceed the requirements...the laptop is a late model duo processor. There are posts on The Hull Truth with similar complaints. Anyone figure this out yet (no one has on the other board)?

Thanks!
  • If you have a floppy drive, just put any old floppy in it and Homeport will stop accessing it after a minute.

When I use HomePort my floppy drive clicks every second looking for a disk. It annoyed me so much I disconnected my floppy...Then HomePort became unusable as mentioned previously. Reconnected floppy and bingo it was up to speed again. I am guessing HP is scanning media to try and find maps and this auto map finding facility is causing the problem.

    NWIGHTMAN,

I have made the same complaint. I keep hoping it will be fixed in a new version update, but so far... no go.

Other forum mebers have suggested uninstallin hyour floppy or putting in a disk into the floppy drive.......

But I wish it would be fixed instead of having to jump thru hoops to use it.
