Uploading list of GPS points (and info) that aren't in appropriate format.

I have kept a list of GPS points (southings/eastings/name/date) from my old handheld gps unit (I don't have the cables to connect it to my computer for download) and want to be able to convert that data into a file that can be uploaded onto my new Garmin Echomap.

I can't find the required format anywhere or how to manage this process.

Any help would be much appreciated.

G'Day,

I literally went through my handheld GPS and manually copied the waypoints (name/date/Southings/Eastings) onto an Excel file. So I have a excel (xml and csv) file with 250 points with a column for each: name, date, south, east.

Let me know if you have any ideas.

You may find POI loader will do what you want with a bit of experimentation. It will convert excel spreadsheets into POI files which can then be read by Garmin devices, see

Thanks, this nearly solves my problem - good work!

I'm stuck converting the GPS waypoints from the format they're in to long & lat......

Any ideas? I'm a bit surprised I can't upload GPS waypoints into a GPS......

What format are they in?

You can of course upload gps waypoints into a GPS, but like any computer data it needs to be in the correct format
