I have a Garmin 7612xsv chart plotter. I also have purchased the Garmin "Jacksonville - Bahamas" g2 vision map sd card. I have installed homeport fro the free download. I would like to upload the garmin sd card into Homeport. The install instructions that are for a HomePort sd card install say this is possible by copying the garmin files to the homport install sd card. I do not have a homeport install sd card. I downloaded the homeport install from the Garmin site. There is no option to get an sd card. During the homeport install from the homrport download there was no option to import a garmin g2vision sd card data into homeport.
So now I leave my garmin sd card in the sd card slot in my laptop. When I startup homeport, I get an error (attached screenshot), which references the garmin sd card. I press ok and then it loads the garmin map data. However, this leaves me no empty slot in my laptop to import any USER DATA file exported from my ChartPlotter to a blank sd card.
I have twice twice tried to import my USER DATA file exported from my ChartPlotter to homeport by removing the Garmin map sd (all maps then disappear without the card in) and then inserting the sd card with USER DATA. All I get is a bunch of "Activity Logs", and no wayoints, or routes from my ChartPlotter export. I then re-insert the Garmin map sd card back in, and although the Garmim maps re display in HomePort again, no wayoints, or routes from my ChartPlotter that I imported display, and just the "Activity Logs".
This is very frustrating. Would uninstalling HomePort and then getting an sd version of HomePort help to solve this? I would be happy to purchase but see no way to do so on the Garmin website. I think it used to be $30. I have watched the single (only one video, really Garmin?) Garmin video tutorial on HomePort, and it does not address the above process when you use the g2 vision map sd cards. Any help would be appreciated. I am happy to hire a "Garmin HomePort Consultant" at this point, I am so frustrated.
