Creating Routes & Sending To GPSMAP 640

I'm having a problem creating long routes on my PC using HomePort & sending them to GPSMAP 640. If I use the New Route tool, the route gets truncated when sent to GPS. If I use the waypoints method, route gets way off course in HomePort & goes in all directions. Anyone help? Thank you

If its getting truncated it'll probably be because it's too long, try splitting the route into shorter chunks.

Yes, your device has a limit on how many turns (or points) a route can have. It's not easy to find out what this limit is. It's also not that easy to figure out how many turns there are in a route or where to break it up.

I've had to do this but it's been a while. It's also a bit inconvenient to be following a route and have it suddenly end and you have to bring up the continuation while driving the boat.

As I recall, the turn limit on the 5208 is 249 turns or points.

There also is a limit on how many routes the device can hold at one time and the total number of turns. For my longer trips I have to swap out SD cards while underway.
