I have a Garmin 7612 and it is loaded with g2 maps. I downloaded HomePort on my laptop and using a blank SD card, retrieved the "data" from the chartplotter. No usable maps appear using the program while my tracks are clearly there. The Garmin video on chartplotters from the Company speaks to putting the "SD card with Homeport" into the chartplotter and pulling data from the chartplotter onto the card, then uploading the SD card to the computer. But since the Homeport program is downloaded to my computer already, why would I load the Homeport program on a SD card put it into the chartplotter? Any simple steps to move data to Homeport so I can create waypoints on the laptop would be appreciated.
There are numerous threads here about using maps with Homeport, these should help you. As for data, once it's on the card you should be able to copy it into Homeport.
