I am using Windows 10 and am trying to import a map from my PC/Desktop and I also have it saved in my PC/Documents. When in Homeport I click the file button and then the "import into my collection". I click on the file to get the name in the file name area. Then I click "open" and my cursor blinks every few seconds for about 20 seconds total and then it is apparently downloaded but when I go to look it is no where at all! I have a total of about 96 hours on this (simply trying to get a file from my PC into Homeport). Can someone please help me? Thank you, Bob
HomePort will only read maps from external drives (typically an SD card). Copy the maps from your plotter to a blank SD card, insert the card into your computer's SD card slot, open HomePort and it should read and display the maps.
You have to have the SD card in the computer for homeport to read it, it won't work any other way.
Hello.
I'm the captain, sea captain. I want to make a reliable navigation system on my ship. But I don't understand anything in electronic navigation systems. I feel comfortable with a paper map and compass in hand. Please, clear to me this is a hi-tech fog. I have a rugged tablet PC IP67 waterproof standard, I want to know what software I should use and what format of map should I buy? I installed the Garmin HomePort but I can't find settings to connect with the built-in my PC the GPS module or configuration to connect other external GPS equipment. Tell me, can I supply a GPS device to a PC and use with the software HomePort? GPS routing with a HomePort on a PC, is that possible? Can I connect the GPS-mouse and charting GPS track through a HomePort? What is ActiveCaptain service? Is there a software product for Windows from Garmin that works with meteorological data such as NAVTEX files or GRIB files (tge HomePort is work)?
Six small questions and a great desire to understand what to do. I hope for your competence and professional guide for me.
Regards, seaman.
