Duplicating Route Problem

I created a route from a track and named it Route 1. Then I double clicked on tRoute 1 copied it and pasted it into another folder and named the copy Route 2. With that completed I Proceeded to modify route 2 by moving and some of Route 2 turns and deleting others. What I was doing was having the end of the route go to a different location

When I went back and looked at Route 1 it looked unchanged. The colored route line hadn't changed. Then I noticed that some of the turn numbers (ones I'd moved editing Route 2) didn't show up next to the turn they were associated with along Route 1. However when I double clicked on Route 1 to display the turn list the moved turns were still listed and when I clicked on them in the turn list the orange circle highlighted the moved turn that now wasn't on the Route 1 colored line.

I've learned I can't copy a route and then modify it without causing problems with the original route. Now I'm aware that even though the copy and paste options allow me to do this I shouldn't. HomePort help doesn't list copy and paste for routes as an option but doesn't say anything about what can happen if you do.

What did surprise me was that the Route 1 line didn't change as I moved some of its turns as I modified Route 2. I was finally able to get Route 1's route line to update to the changes I'd made in Route 2 by inverting Route 1--then the line revised.

I'm very happy that there is now a Mac version for HomePort. I haven't dug through all the HomePort PC stuff to see if this is a well known item to be aware of, but thought I'd list it on the Mac HomePort forum for all the new Mac users.
