Tried my Vivoactive3 on the golf course last week but the distances all were all in meters even though I've set the distances to yards for golf. Everything else is generally in meter (live in Canada). Any suggestions?

This happened to me on the course today on my first time using the watch, it is very frustrating, will this be fixed

I suspect not quickly. It's a 10% difference. Yes, easy to work out on the fly, but a line of code could do it for us!

Tried my VA3 for the first time on the course today.  Couldn't understand why it was so off till I hit hit forum and had the "ah ya!" moment.

Upvote this.... as I live in canada.....it only makes sense to have a unit of measure separate for each activity .....especially golf.

  • 1 unit of measure sounds good to me, why do you ever want to use 2 ;-) As European I never understand these requests, hahaha.

Not a very helpful response. The simple fact is that some activities are still measured in Imperial units ( golf being one) and users should expect that if they select that system of measurement for that activity that's what will be shown. Hahaha.

  • I understand, however Golf is in meters where I come from. I think it is special for Canada to have this split. In the past there was a setting for golf but it is gone. I suggest you either contact Garmin support or leave an 'idea' with them at https://www.garmin.com/en-US/forms/ideas/ . I do not think you get an answer but you can give it a try.

So it sounds like you really didn't have anything to contribute to the conversation.  The original posting about this issue was made over a year ago, and Garmin was contacted to see if an update could be made to enable users to select yards for golf, but all users got was "so sorry, it is what it is".  Thank goodness Strava is smart enough to be able to figure out how to convert meters to yards (which Garmin seems to not have mastered) so that when I upload my bike rides and runs they display in metric.  Garmin, if you monitor these posts...you should be ashamed.

  • I get bored sometimes, yeah, sorry. The problem is that complaining about it in this forum is useless since Garmin does not seem to read any of it.

No problem.  Just frustrating that Garmin wouldn't bother to fix this.

  • I live in Canada as well unfortunately the only way to have it display yards for Golf is to do as follows: on Connect app set units to Statute UK (distance will be Imperial, everything else will be metric), on your watch make sure that under Units Distance is set to miles. This will have the Golf app display yards as well if you are using Garmin Golf all of your scorecards and shots will show as yards.
