There are updates to things other than the main fw, and they come are various times with no announcement. Things like GPS, Sensor Hub that do show up under About>SW versions. A big one that will likely be coming soon is tzmap that doesn't show in about. It's the data used to figure out the time based on your location, and there's often an update before people change to/from DST. It's common to all garmin devices that use GPS for time.
Lucky you. I am on 5.50 too. It had a tiny bit improvement from 5.4, so that it can "easily" last for A day on 5.5 whereas 5.4 barely last a day. I have seen 3% per hour or even 1% per hour after upgrading to 5.5. But now it is back on 4.5-5.5% per hour..... I have done hard reset and factory reset too. I have tested with all functionalities disabled and does not seem to affect anything at all...
May I ask what phone do you use and did you upgrade to 5.5 via bluetooth or pc connection?
My first vivoactive 3 (on 5.4) had terrible battery life (around 3%/hour), got it replaced at the store. The replacement (on 5.4) performs much better and can last between 5-8 days depending on how many activities (bike rides) I do.
After reading all this, I'm still confused about firmware versions. I bought my Vivoactive 3 in Australia, but I'm now living in Malaysia. According to the .xml file, I've got a ROW version. Does this mean that I should or shouldn't have access to 5.60 firmware? I desperately need it (like so many others), my battery life is down to about 24 hours!
ROW devices are 5.40, and it seems APAC have 5.60. ROW is the device itself, and not always the region you buy it or where you are physically. A buddy of mine lives in OZ and he always gets row devices in stores there.
So, since you have a ROW device, you won't get 5.60.
i miss the 5.50. my VA was updated to 5.60 since Oct 14th. seems no problem till 2 days ago i recharged my VA3. after i unplugged my VA3, the nightmare is coming. less than 36 hours, my VA showed that battery was below 20%, whereas i didn't use gps. last night i recharged it again and unplugged at 9 pm with 96% battery level. this morning my battery remain 72%. then i ran for about 45 minutes and the battery decreased by 12%. i don't know why my VA is got fast battery drain again like in 5.20 firmware. i have done hard reset twice, but nothing is changed. i must recharged it once per 1-2 days.
before i got updated to 5.60, my VA was in 5.50 firmware. when i use to record my run for about 2 hours, it was oly decreased less than 25%. then with no gps use, my VA only consumed less than 15% a day and i charged it once per 4-5 days. :(
