Rev A,B or C? Connected problems

As there are so many faulty devices out there, it seems there may be a connection between watch and the place they were build...

my watch is rev C and I got nearly no problems at all.

how about yours? You can find the information in the bottom text of the box they came in.
  • I have Rev. B on the bottom and side. I have problems with the altimeter and counting floors.

so let's throw a spanner into this rev thing.
    side - 007-03087-10 rev B
    bottom - 007-03088-10 rev B

    no major issues.
  • My box also says Rev B on both the side side and bottom and I haven't had any problems.
  • The same thing was discussed en the fenix 3 forum with the result that this is the box review not the watch hardware review.
  • Wow already up to rev C of the box design/finish!

Assuming all the watches are at the same hardware revision, then what are the reasons for the wide variation in reported performance issues and battery life?
Usually electronic devices that have multiple reports of the same issues or faults are caused by either manufacturing issues or design issues.
The former can give rise to a faulty batch of devices, assuming the fault once identified leads to a correction in the manufacturing process.
The latter require a design change to correct the fault. This can be either hardware or firmware or both. If this is a hardware change it should lead to an increase in the revision of the affected assembly and usually to the watch. If this is a firmware change, the software revision is increased.
I suspect for manufacturing or hardware changes Garmin will be reluctant to make this information available for the obvious reasons.
It appears that Garmin are handling all the reported issues as firmware design changes.
Any variation in the performance of the hardware is left to the user to decide if it's acceptable or not. If not & within the return window, the user can return the watch.
I would be interested in knowing the return rate per month since the VA3 went on sale. Plotting that along with the dates for each software update would be interesting.

I've purchased two VA3's from the same store 3 months apart and based on the rev #'s on those boxes I've seen absolutely no indication that a certain version or number correlates to any known VA3 problems. Also, refer to post #15 this thread. I believe this is all speculation and until there is evidence that rev versions/numbers prove defects with the VA3, people should take this thread with a grain of salt. Otherwise, there will be people with perfectly good devices returning them and others who may have a defective unit thinking theirs must be OK.

is possible read it from the watch? because at the bottom of box I have Rev. C and on the side I have Rev. B
the all bottom number: 007-03088-10 Rev. C
on the side number: 007-03087-10 Rev.B

and I have some issue sw v2.90:
    - alarm not working
    - weather information are missing
    - problem with counting of floors

    one small update:
alarm start working - after delete all alarm and set them again :)
Weather information - started work after update Garmin Connect to 4.2
