Venu vs Forerunner 645

As far as I've read, the new Venu device does not have the running features like running dynamics and performance measurements as of the Forerunner 645 for instance.

What is the reasoning behind this? I guess it's just a matter of different software features which Garmin puts in to different devices just to be able to have a wider range of watches. But frankly, who buys two watches just because you can't get all the features in one watch?

If the Venu would have had those features, I would have bought one without hesitating. But instead, I have to choose between a 645 with poor display or a Venu without the running dynamics.

Could somebody explain in details what running features are missing in the new Venu watch? I have a FR645 Music, and opposedly to most people, I like the touch screen and AMOLED screen. But what would I be missing from my current watch if I switched from it to the Venu? Thanks!!

Their site says you also lose Cadence but my VA3 does Cadence...I would hope the Venu does as well.

    But hey....you gain Golf!  :-)

wow those are quite a lot of functions lacking there...

    thanks for the quick answer!

I´ll clearly stick with my 645 for the time being...

    such a shame I don´t play Golf ;-)

  • You'd lose all of the running dynamics if you use the running pod or a high end chest strap and recovery and performance stats.(Training Effect, Revovery Times, Est. Race Times etc.) The Venu gives you is the VO2 max. I personally use the 945 for all running workouts and multi event training and then wear the Venu for all other activities and day to day. There are others that I know I am missing. If you are a serious runner then the 645 is the way to go. Serious about general fitness, then the Venu will work for you in my opinion.
