Mine was bought in may’18 a few weeks after the official release in the Netherlands.
From a warranty viewpoint we are better off in Europe. Mandatory is 2 years and in the Netherlands we go even…
After contacting Garmin Support they recognized the failure with the watch band body issues. They said they have extended warranty period for this particular issue and have redesigned the body to prevent braking. My watch is on its way to Garmin now to be exchange with the new design with a prepaid RMA. They did say it could take a few weeks due to new design product availability. As long as they take care of the issue I'll be happy.
BTW, this is USA garmin support.
When the replacement arrives, can you please post a couple of photos? I have already broken 2, the second I have not even replaced (just a small crack) but reinforced with a TPU cover from amazon for only 6 euros, now my wife uses it and it holds up very well.
Thanks for the update gcalhoun85. I’m really hoping that Garmin Australia are as forthcoming in acknowledging that there are issues with the design. I hope for a similar outcome where my broken watch can be replaced with a watch with the new redesigned watch body and not a refurbished unit that may see the same problem present again in the future.
So far after speaking to Garmin Australia Support at 11:00am on Tuesday morning and replying their email with the requested details within five minutes of receipt, it’s now 6:00pm on Friday evening and I haven’t heard anything back.
I received the replacement watch. My wife sent me a picture of it since I am currently traveling. Garmin told me this is a redesign, but I'm not seeing any physical changes by looking at it. I'm glad Garmin replaced it and really hopping there is an improvement. Time will tell. Here’s a picture.
As an update, Garmin Australia offered a replacement of the damaged unit with a factory refurbished unit. I must acknowledge that once initial contact was made were very helpful and the warranty process is straight forward. At the time however there were no refurbished units in stock and replacement time was estimated to be two months. I contacted Garmin again because I felt that 2 months was a long time to wait for replacement and they offered to replace with a different watch from the Forerunner line or provide/facilitate a refund through the original seller. I decided for a refund and purchased a Fenix 6S which was on sale at a heavily discounted price. I’m happy with the outcome.

I was able to repair my car handle from the door which broke into two pieces during the winter. Once the paste is dry it became one part with the body part.
