My 235 seems to flat line my heart rate at 149bpm as its obviously showing in per attached photo, even though I know it is higher ?

Any comments would be appreciated

  • I have experienced this issue for the first time today. The recording of my heart rate by my Garmin Forerunner 235 would not go higher than 100bpm while hill walking. See attached.

    I'm on software version 7.60.

    Is this a hardware fault?ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1306748.png
  • Yeah!!! Since Release 7.60 Everything is Broken...
I made a Video of me Running on a Bike... and My heartbeats is 20 below what i'm on the Bike.
In the release 7.50 everything was working fine...

I have my watch for a year now... and i know my Pace vs HeartBeats.... So don't tell me that is the " accurate HR", i can live easy with the reading speed..
    This is a Software Problem...
  • Hi,

See the other thread, i notice the same since i updated to 7.60.
In training it sticks arround 135 - 140 for several minutes, when i know i'm higher, after that it slowly goes up but seems to show inconsistent values.
  • I will share my experience in last workout. Optical sensor worked quite well.
Before starting to record activity I did a warming period from home to starting point. FR235 watch with activity selected and in data screen but no started.
During this warm-up period, about 5 min. HR increased and decreased according to my effort but not very consistently.
I reached starting point with high HR, about 125 bpm, not real, and seated waiting HR to decrease to rest value, about 50 bpm.
It took a couple of minutes, HR decrease was slow, not real as my heart was at rest some time before.
When in rest and FR235 reached rest value I waited some seconds in 48-50 bpm and then started the activity.
    see results in https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/2487390247
I ran first half at steady pace, see HR was constant, then started to increase pace and HR also increased steadily.
but in km 11 there was a sudden increase from 162 to 175 bpm and then reading was useless.
Since km 12 I decreased pace a lot and so my HR but FR235 was unable to follow my HR and remained in about 165 bpm where my heart was sure at about 135-145 bpm.
    In summary:
    - waiting for the watch to reach steady reading before starting the activity is crucial,
    - even with good starting, FR235 fails at very high HR reading
I will continue trying different workouts.
    (sorry for so long explanation)
  • But before it works only in new soft 7.6 this issue?
  • I have FR235 little time ago and cannot assure, but the fact is 7.6 has the performance described.
  • Again other workout, now on bicycle. https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/2491224656
I thought HR was fixed before starting, but it seems it was as the workout HR show about 165 and even up to 192 bpm, but I probably was around 100-120 all the time.
I think fixing HR at the beginning is the key but it last to long to be fixed
  • Do we have any temporary solution?
should we complain to Garmin ?
This is software issue order hardwares?

Before starting an activity be sure HR is stable and real.
  • What you mean stable ? When GPS is ok how long should wait ? When I know is "stable"
