From the sticky:

Changes made from version 4.20 to 4.30:
•Added support for Connect IQ 1.2.6.
•Added support for searching for sensors manually.
•Improved the battery performance when used at sub-freezing temperatures.

Not really going to get too excited about this one.

I'm not sure what this means:Added support for searching for sensors manually.
Does this relate to the issue where the watch is automatically connecting to someone else's sensor?

Definitely won't be benefitting from: Improved the battery performance when used at sub-freezing temperatures.
At sub zero, I will be indoors in the warm! Hopefully it will benefit some of you :-)
  • Anyone else seeing external HR monitor drop out frequently after the update the 4.3?

I turned off ORH built-in to the watch long ago, so it's not thrashing between external and built-in OHR. I rely on HR for training instead of casually looking through graphs later... so this is a dealbreaker.

  • My RHR is currently showing on the screen as 70, at the same time as current HR is 63, and my 4 hour low is 55.

    Not right at all

I agree. Something's wrong, or was. My RHRATE has been 40-45 for several months and now is 68¡.
Besides, The watch says that my last for hours my mínimum HR has been 40 and my max 120, and todays RHR IS 68. I cant understand it, perhaps it was wrong before?
  • I'll join the rest and say that my avg 7 day RHR (on the 235) has been steadily increasing since 4.3 was installed. The daily RHR is about 10-15 bpm higher than before. With 4.2, the RHR seemed low, as the 235 seemed to record these random drops. I'm pretty sure my numbers should be somewhere between the two.

UPDATE: Forgot to mention, in Garmin Connect Mobile, the 7 day average for my RHR seems about what I'm used to seeing.

That's right!. I've just checked it up in GC AND my RHR is 45. But The watch says 68, why?

this latest update is driving me INSANE.

my RHR is considerably higher than what it was before.

my overall HR on this watch is 20 beats higher compared to when I turn on my scosche armband HR monitor (which has always been super reliable).

and at my last race over the weekend, my watched connected to 3 different peoples HR strap!!!! so I had no data to go by other than someone's HR which threw me completely off. Needless to say, this latest update is a complete, utter disaster and I've always been a Garmin guy but I'm beginning to think twice about my next move. I have to restore my watch to the factory setting. This 4.3 update is complete junk.
  • Hi Garmin

since 4.2 / 4.3 update, my garmin is not working correctly either.

4.2 i lost oHR so upgraded to 4.3 and 2.6, but oHR not working properly, it initially picked up HR for two runs post update but today, i wouldn't pick up HR in activity window, toggled settings and still didn't work ( green light at back was on )

also syncing with garmin connect via xperia phone, it's constantly trying to send new sw and failing, the sync bar is 75% complete but never fully completes. to get my runs to sync, i need to disable BT and re-enable. strange thing is aswell, i get "transfer complete" notification on garmin screen ( note i updated the sw using the webupdater tool as i couldn't get 4.3 on using GC and BT)

Lastly, i'm not convinced the tracking on the runs is as accurate ( at least for my last one today ) but will check further ones

Definitely issue with oHR in these two updates anyway as is being pointed out in the thread.
  • I've run my first time in this firmware version and my HR is way above usual for The same pace and effort. I,ve stopped twice to count my HR in my neck and it didn't macht The 235. Something's clearly wrong.

Another with RHR issues here. I can watch the HR be significantly lower than the displayed RHR for quite a while - but without any change in RHR.

It seems more reasonable on Garmin Connect web though. Am I correct in assuming RHR is not transferred from the watch, but separately calculated from the all day HR data? (It has always been a different figure between the watch and Connect)
  • and at my last race over the weekend, my watched connected to 3 different peoples HR strap!!!! so I had no data to go by other than someone's HR which threw me completely off. Needless to say, this latest update is a complete,
That is ">not new behaviour">not new behaviour introduced by the firmware v4.30 update (or v4.20, for that matter).

To protect yourself from that, you could have worn and connected your Scosche HRM to your FR235 for the race.

    Cadence lock back?

In addition to the above mentioned topics, on a run yesterday I had the feeling that I again had this cadence lock. From time to time I had this implausible lock to a HR around 160 with the versions before 4.2. The software 4.2 removed this issue for me, but with 4.3 it seems to be back again.
  • Since updating to 4.3, I am encountering a new problem with Bluetooth: when my phone is connected to some Bluetooth device, for example my car hands free set, the FR235 will reboot every few minutes, resetting HR readings. This seems to happen only when the phone is connected to a BT device. Am I the only one with this problem?
I tried pairing the watch to the phone again, maybe this will offer a solution. So far, I never had any trouble with the FR235 or the firmware updates.

Update: pairing anew didn't help, watch just rebooted three times in a 15 minute ride. Can I revert to 4.2?
