Post your experiences in this thread.
From the sticky:

Changes made from version 4.20 to 4.30:
•Added support for Connect IQ 1.2.6.
•Added support for searching for sensors manually.
•Improved the battery performance when used at sub-freezing temperatures.

Not really going to get too excited about this one.

I'm not sure what this means:Added support for searching for sensors manually.
Does this relate to the issue where the watch is automatically connecting to someone else's sensor?

Definitely won't be benefitting from: Improved the battery performance when used at sub-freezing temperatures.
At sub zero, I will be indoors in the warm! Hopefully it will benefit some of you :-)
  • When accessing the weather widget on 4.30, the watch reboots every single time. Was working just fine with 4.20.

No issues here on iOS (iPhone 6s)...

No problems yet but one benefit

I use Domipulse2 as my main watch face and I have found that it seems to lock faster now. Used to take a minute before the --- displayed my heart rate.
However, the only thing that I noticed as a big change is that my watch appears to sync every hour regardless of my input. I used to only get sync if I switched apps, or opened the Android App.
  • With the last update, I noticed that the OHM took a while to simmer down. It originally had my RHR at like 38, which is insane, but it settled in at 46 or so within a day or two.

I hope so, my RHR sits around there {38-45 bpm} (has been for ages), but it's saying its 69bpm (after reset, before it was 92...I don't even know). Cal burn is my issue really. It was working perfect during 4.2 (well consistent) but now, it's hundreds of cals under where I normally am and nothings changed.

I just hate their update process and how little bug testing goes into it. Does anyone actually know what they did (and not post notes, I mean what they changed and how they changed it?) It's infuriating because it would be nice to build a level of understanding to which what they shift and move around with these "updates"

    hr acquisition

Seems a bit faster to acquire hr...not as fast as 4.1, but accuracy plus speed is the goal...

What exactly do you mean by that? Exhaustive testing that uncovers all defects, in software of non-trivial scale and complexity, is neither economically viable nor reasonably expected. If Garmin has performed regression testing – specifically, using the test cases that previous releases have successfully passed, but not your particular use case(s), or usage parameters and operating conditions – as well as tested new/changed features for both typical and edge cases, then that ought to be categorically adequate. I see no evidence to suggest that Garmin has not spent sufficient time, even if a new firmware version changes/breaks things for you individually.

Does anyone actually know what they did (and not post notes, I mean what they changed and how they changed it?)
The internal workings of commercially provided software are not usually something to be disclosed for open discussion with users or members of the public, irrespective of how knowledgeable or entitled they may feel themselves to be. It isn't open source software we're talking about.

It's infuriating because it would be nice to build a level of understanding to which what they shift and move around with these "updates"
You're welcome to feel how you feel, but objectively, in what capacity would you be entitled to access such information? if you're not entitled to it by law or contract, but you feel infuriated because you're not being offered to which you're entitled, then the problem is not Garmin's.
  • I run an I.T. department. If our software releases went like Garmin's, I would have been fired years ago.
  • Benefits of maintaining (and paying for) an in-house IT team directly responsible for both requirements gathering and capability delivery, instead of using off-the-shelf IT products and applications that were conceived, designed and produced without your having established yourself as the stakeholder controlling the purse strings, and to whom the developers are ultimately accountable.

    Hi,
It seems my VO2 max is no more sync. with GC using fw 4.3.
I did a run yesterday, my vo2 max increased from 55 to 56. On the watch, it's display 56 but always 55 on the phone and there is no dot on vo2 Max for this day...
All other information are well sync.

Is anyone have the same issue ?

    Thanks.

Everytime I update the firmware, I seem to lose apps, widgets and data fields (along with their configurations) and then I have to go and install, reorder and reconfigure all over again. Sooooo frustrating!!! I hate you Garmin!!!! I'm certain monkeys can develop software better than Garmin engineers.

Uh-ha. Just checked it on purpose, same here.
