Watch face changing after plug in

Everytime I connect my 235 to my PC via USB, without fail it will have changed the watch face used as a display. I usually have it set to the normal Garmin digital one, but do have a few extras installed in case I fancy a change, but after charging and transferring data, once unplugged the face changes to a Connect IQ one.

Its not a major inconvenience, just a little frustrating after a while. Any idea why it is doing this and how to fix?

Thanks

PS - I am on all the latest firmware, but the watch has been doing this for several months now through the last few firmware updates.
  • If possible post the watch face and computer you are using when the issue occurs.
On my FR235, the following watch faces are installed and listed under Clock Options (in that order):
    • Digital
    • Countdown!
    • SC8
    • Steam Gauge

Before connecting to my MacBook Pro (running OS X 10.11.4) last night, the watch face was Countdown!
After charging overnight and then disconnecting from my Mac, the watch face became Steam Gauge.

I vaguely remember Garmin Connect online indicated – by a (1) badge on top of the icon with two diagonal arrows pointing in opposite directions, in the navigation panel on the left – that there was an update to Countdown! pending to be synced, some hours before I connected my FR235 to my Mac and Garmin Express. Could that have been what ‘kicked’ me off using Countdown! as the watch face in the process of syncing, and bumped me onto a different installed watch face? (I cannot remember if Steam Gauge was last used. It was certainly the one most recently installed in that list.)

Incidentally, I noted that, after disconnection, Garmin Express indicated I had pending updates for SC8 (and the DozenRunField data screen). In view of that, I tried to switch to the SC8 watch face before reconnecting the USB cable, hoping to test whether that is what would cause the watch face to be mysteriously changed upon next syncing and disconnection. However, even though the Watch Face setting was ‘Connect IQ’ after I changed the watch face, the actual watch face that was displayed was Digital, somehow. When I next synced, Garmin Express reported an install_app error. I'm not sure if that played a part in which watch face ended up showing on my FR235.
  • Yesterday the Connect IQ store did a mass (auto) update (some how related to 23x/630 devices). If you look at many things in the store today you'll see "-upd" at the end of the version.

Which means, when you plug in, you could be getting an update to anything CIQ on your watch, and I've seen updates change the default watchface.
  • I've just plugged mine in again.

It was on the standard "Digital" face when I plugged it in. The only update that was applied to anything on my watch was to the app Hike.

Unplugged the watch and the watch face has changed to Simplicitime.

    I'm using a Win 10 32bit machine, my watch has the 4.2 firmware, 2.6 HR software, Connect IQ 1.2.2, GPS 3.00, Display 2.10, Bluetooth/ANT 2.2

Actually, I'm the "Hike" guy! They did a background update to a bunch of stuff in the app store yesterday. I did an update to Hike a couple days back and you saw it, but basically anything you had with Connect IQ (watchfaces, etc) also got updated at the same time, though it might not have showed in your list....
