Help with corrupt fit file

Former Member
Former Member
Might as well start a thread for this like they have over in the 500 forum.

I've only had my 520 for a week, and I really like it. The only issues I've had so far are that sometimes the bluetooth requires me to restart on the device to work properly, and then tonights FIT file is really corrupt so I can't load it over to strava.

The online FIT tool doesn't fix it, and then I opened it in golden cheetah. It seems the timestamps are all whacky, where it should be increasing every second, but it looks like the stamps are becoming integer overflows. The data is there, I just don't know of a way to edit all of the timestamps by just setting them as monotonically increasing seconds after they start getting corrupt in the file.

Any ideas?

    Maggie,

I went ahead and saved the file but there wasn't any corruption I think you most likely encountered issues with Garmins server.

  • Hello,

May I have some assistance with this attached file please? 2018-06-20-15-26-06.fit
On my commute home on 20/06/2018, I unloaded my backpack from my shoulders and plonked on the handlebar. This started the "impact detection" feature and I seem to think this is the reason that I am unable to sync with Garmin connect and push to Strava. Also, I can't manually select the file from Strava to upload.

On the Edge 520, I can see the ride in the history but it has a * next to the KM and I'm unable to open the ride to see the stats even.

    Any assistance is very welcome.

    Brad.
  • Brad,

You will need to provide another link to the file it's invalid.
  • I have some problem with the run segment in my multi sport file (somehow showing 42k instead of 21k run). Anyone want to give it a go?
(file too large for upload, therefor the link).

    Thanks a lot
    /Daniel

    Daniel,

When I load your file into my spare GC account it looked correct but when I imported it into the repair tool there is one data record that did show a big distance jump so that record is now deleted it also appears you might have had a 16sec delay in stopping your activity that is fixed as well. :)

    Give thisfile a try .

Thanks a lot for the help Bart!
The activity now shows correct length for the running part. And like you mentioned I must have pushed the stop button by mistake in T2, and resumed it 16s later. =)
