Firmware Version 5.3 issue

I used Garmin Express to update from 5.2 to 5.3.

Garmin Express synced -found the update , went thru the install process and finally reported that the update was successfully installed. (However it did not install the update on the device the firmware is still at 5.2 after rebooting the device)

If I resync in Garmin Express it will go thru the whole process again, and finally say that the update was successfully installed- but guess what ...its not installed!

I have uninstalled Garmin Express from the PC and reinstalled it but got exactly the same issue.
I have updated firmware many times and never had this issue.
Any ideas ?

You have to reboot/powercycle the unit, at least that's what I did.

Yes - I have rebooted the unit but its still at 5.20

Is the Edge showing 5.20 under the system about or is it GE that is reporting that the Edge is as 5.20?

The Edge is showing 5.20 under the about system
Garmin Express is saying 5.30 is installed - if you resync with Garmin Express it will flag a 5.30 update is available and attempt to install again...

You can manually place the update file on the Edge.
Download this file http://gawisp.com/perry/edge/Edge520_530.gcd

Place it in the Garmin folder on the Edge and rename it to gupdate.gcd.

Edge 520 on SW version 5.30 crashed 4 times during a ride

Upgraded my 520 to SW version 5.30, went out this morning on a ride and it crashed 4 times on me. Complete random power-off, I had to manually switch it on again each time.

Strangely enough, it resumed tracking the ride but each time I lost about 500m.

Anyone know how to manually downgrade the SW back to version 5.20?

This happened to me last night twice on a ride. Today it happened again after about 4 miles. Today I had to turn it back on about 4 times because it crashed immediately upon restarting. Was fine for the next 25 miles after that. Very strange. Would also like to know how to "downgrade" to 5.20
