Garmin 1030 front mount insert replacement doesn't exist. This should be easily fixable, but no, you google and purchase and then discover, no replacement insert does not exist.

Hi,  I use my Garmin 1030 all the time, here in Canada and abroad and really like it.  You are most certainly aware of this issue, but here it is expressed with surprise and frustration.  It must be easy to fix.  The Garmin extended front handlebar mount for the 1000 series is great.  As you know, if you fall, instead of breaking the attachment portion on the Garmin 1030 itself, the insert on the mount fails.  All good.  It looks replaceable, so you google and find a replacement.  But no, it is for the K-Edge series!  The screws are shorter and there is no insert nut to screw them into.  So, after breaking, searching, purchasing online, waiting, taking apart and trying, and then thinking is it me?, you discover, no it's you.  You have these things manufactured somewhere, so why not have double the number of freaking inserts made and have the insert supplied somewhere as well?  What is the matter with you?  I have now spent countless hours searching this in the disbelief that it is not possible to purchase the proper insert anywhere and now turn to you and say, please fix this.  Thank you.  Bye.

Thank you, yes it does look that way and appears to be available from MEC. Twice the price of the insert but less than half the price of the outfront mount. I’ll see what happens first with customer service for the insert order. Cheers.
