Corrupted FIT file activity

Hi, I had a ride yesterday and when I finished it my Edge declared on a new elevation record and stopped responding. After a minute I understood this is not going anywhere and none of the buttons worked so I did a reset by holding the power button for a couple of seconds. After that the activity wasn't uploaded from the device and even though I can see that I made this ride (see the time and distance) I can't get into the details of it. When I came back home I tried to upload with the Garmin connect but I got a message the file is corrupted so I tried to use some Fit file fixers over the net but none of them seems to fix it in a way that I will be able to upload it to the Garmin connect (even though one of the fixer created a file that allowed me to upload to Strava with a small missing part at the end of the activity - I tried http://garmin.kiesewetter.nl/ - Failed, https://www.fitfiletools.com/ - File was good for Strava but not for Garmin Connect).
Any other suggestion how to fix it so I will be able to see the activity in Garmin connect and in the Edge itself.

    thx Wink

  • Legend! I hope you are getting paid by garmin;)

    Thanks.

  • Disappointed I just lost all the post I was typing.

    grrrr....

    1_ Sorry but *** happened twice but OnlyTwo (I hope !) :)

2_ This time no GPS wild but a message when I tried to resume my paused activity close to be back.

"No more space , delete old activities"

-> There was no more activities...

-> at home there was 300ko free space with a file about 480ko

3_ When I get this message, I decide to end the activity

-> I get the summary well displayed, I clic next

-> Watch was stuck in a "Loading..." loop, no activity in Strava

4_ Synchronization is ok with GC but some data are full of holes and no activity "Hike"

5_ After 1h looping, I clic on a button and loop broke, get back time display.

Theses are my firsts tries on the field with Strava, not lucky for now.

Next activity, I will try without Strava and my recorded paths just in case STRAVA is guilty.

:insert a gif of crying cat and Lillo asking "please help":

Here is the file online for 2 days

I just lost all the post I was typing.

that is the most frustrating thing in life apart from loosing a lot of workout data Slight smile

recording to the fit file ended abruptly and repaired with help of FitFileRepairTool

14km is what remains of data in your fit file

did not clean it up this time Slight smile give a yell when in need for a cleanup

question : how many free space is available on your watch ?

time to clean up fit files or start with a clean setup again

  • Sorry for the late reply.

I bought a fridge to put your beers but I hope not to use it only for this purpose :)

    File worked well as usual.

Yesterday an activity worked also well without Strava but still get a space low message...

    Used 53,8Mo

    Free 384 Ko...

In fact all the problem is here, why I have so low free space with just Strava on the watch...

I look into wit Treesize and I finaly ound out what is the  "#@!'"é~é" problem...

I charged once my watch on my ISP box (Freebox) which has a front USB port... and this dumbass generate a file to recognize the device as usb key... This file buda_vfs.img, found and visible only with treesize, is 43,7 Mo weight !

KILL IT ! BURN IT !
