Today I tested a brandnew remote from a friend of mine with the Edge 1030 to see if - maybe - my own remote is faulty. Same problem!
Description: Remote connects without problems at the beginning of the ride. Randomly after a short or longer while, it does not function anymore. (I found no pattern for causing this disfunction...) The red LED is flashing. When you go to the pull-down menu, the Edge states: all sensors are connected (remote as well) - does not blink. If you press the "reconnect-button" on the pull-down menu, a message appears: All sensors are connected! No reconnection possible/neccesary.
But after a while the remote-icon begins to blink. Now the remote has disconnected. A new connection still is not possible - the red LED flashes. One has to go the the sensor-page, disable it, re-enable it and then reconnect.
And then it works for another while - short or longer, but never keeps stable!
ANNOYING!!
Edit: My Edge 1030 does not have a general problem with sensors. All the others (Wahoo-HR, Germin-Speed, Stages-Power) keep connected all the time - my iPhone 6s as well! It's only the remote!
One more Remote pb, other sensor HR,Speed, Cadence are OK Phone 6S is OK.... If it does not respond but shows Green Lead, then next tap will Work, if you get a Red Lead it will take a little longer. I do use MYEDGE IQ.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! His thread celebrates its first birthday - and nothing has changed. And all comments from Garmin Shawn (we are investigating... blah blah) become boring and annoying. (This also applies to the „halo-issue“.)
Yes, but strange enough, I love my Edge 1030. I use it without connecting my phone. Remote is more important for me. What bothers me is the permanent „we are investigating“ thing instead of giving us honest and transparent information.
This takes too long. Is there any news? Does this have any priority? You must be ashamed of yourself. I have paid more than 400 euros for the edge 1030. Solve it !!!!
Ok, I am not an apologist for Garmin- far from it. I had 2 810's which never worked, and still don't work 5 1/2 years later. Garmin support said they were looking into my issues which they seem to have forgotten about as the ticket had apparently been closed the last time I chased them up. I had to use my 810 again last week and in about 10 hours of use it shutdown 8 times, locked up twice, but thankfully it didn't lose to much of the files. Guess what, the 810 is NEVER going to work properly.
I had to use the 810 as I was waiting for my 3rd 1030 to come. I was actually offered a refund before they sent this one but I decided to persist. I want it to work as I like the big screen, the long battery life and even if it crashes I haven't yet lost a ride out of about 600hrs of riding.
I have plenty of problems with my 1030s, some that are being "investigated" but this is not the fault of either Shawn or Alan. These guys would like nothing more than having all the garmin devices working properly and instead be answering simple questions about how to get the most out of everybodies garmins. With my 3rd 1030, I have a renewed 12 month warranty and at the end of that 12 months either everything will work, or I will get a refund.
If you are really that fed up with issues you need to contact garmin support and ask for answers. If you still aren't happy with the response ask for a refund. I wish I had of done this early on with my 810 as it was obvious it could never work properly, however I had spent too much money on maps to let go.
I find myself baffled over all the negative comments concerning the 1030. I waited awhile before purchasing a 1030 for Garmin to work out any problems. I’ve had the computer for about three months and I have not had any problems with it. It has connected to and stayed connected to my Iphone 6 right from the start. It has not dropped any sensors including the Varia radar. I recently tried live tracking twice and both times it has worked perfectly. It has never unexpectedly shut down during a ride and navigation has worked fine the five times I have tried it. I have not tried segments yet since they do not interest me. The computer simply works. I ride with three other guys who have 1030's and theirs work fine too. I previously used a 705 that worked very well but did have a occasional problem.
Has Garmin made a design change in the 1030? Are the complaints coming from those who bought it when it was introduced?
