Edit you Garmin Swim Data free online

HI,

I'm a Garmin Swim user and also a programmer. As many of you, I sometime have inaccuracies in my data. For me, it's mostly an extra lap now and then. It usually happens when swimming in a crowded lane, and I have to switch from freestyle to breaststroke to look for an opportunity to pass. As a result, distance, average speed, and maximum speed metrics will be affected. I used to wish I could just merge two lengths within Garmin Connect and get more accurate data. Since GC doesn't provide this feature (yet), I decided to make my own tool. It is working great for me, so I decided to add splitting length, changing stroke style and pool size, and added a web interface to it. It's free as long as hosting cost are reasonable. Feel free to try it and let me know what you think.

Garmin Communicator plugin is required and you'll have to be able to manually upload an activity file to Garmin Connect. I explain how to do it on the web site.

  • i just got a new Swim 2 Garmin watch,  i inadvertently selected 2000m for drill length instead of 50m, and did this for 10 drills in a row...so now it looks like my swim workout was over 20,000m.  Have  you ever considered adding feetur to your Garmin Swim Data editing tool allow the deletion of a drill length?  The rest of the swim went well, so want to keep the workout, even if I end up having to delete the drill lengths that i marked as 2000m drills.  Right now the tool as you indicated doesn't allow you to select delete for a drill length. Thanks.

  • Modern watches do a good job of detecting turns and strokes while you're pool swimming, but they're not perfect, which can lead to inaccurate performance metrics and frustration. With these new editing tools you can take control of your data in the same place you analyze it. It's great!

  • Hi erunnermtl,

Thank you for making this great tool which I have used many times. Today, however, for 8 to 9 minutes during my workout, my Garmin Fenix 6s recorded all activities as rests which made a very inaccurate record of my workout. I understand that I can change the total distance in Garmin Connect but I can't edit the moving time - even though I can add it up from the rests which were actually laps.

Any ideas on fixing this problem. I am guessing that I had inadvertently pressed something that caused it to stop recognising the laps but it doesn't make any sense to me as this was in the middle of a freestyle pyramid set in which the first 6 and the final 13 intervals were recorded correctly.

  • Nice tool, used it to merge lenghts.

But I noticed that the total CAL are zero. Is it just my problem?

  • Just for everyones interest, I noticed that it will be closed Disappointed

Swimmingwatchtools will close on August 31, 2023

This tool is 10 years old. Although it still performs well and still does what it was intended to, it is becoming increasingly hard to maintain and is due for a complete rewrite. Unfortunately, I don't have time and don't have the interest to maintain, support and upgrade it anymore. So I will be pulling the plug at the end of this summer. For those that might be interested, I'm leaving a link to the source code. If you want to take charge, and get the domain name, leave me a message through the contact form. Finally, I want to thank all of you who have used the tool, and submitted one of the 275000 files. Have a great summer and keep swimming.

At least I downloaded the source code from the provided link, and found a description, but I am not sure that I will be able to make it work offline.

  • I just noticed that the Swimmingwatchtools is closing - thank you so much for developing and sharing this for so long - very kind and helpful. All the best for your future!

  • noticed it too and found this post.  if you can make it work, please share.  I also dropped a note on the swimmingtools website to say thanks and good luck.

  • when I delete my swimming data on my watch before I upload the modified data, I can’t recover the data on my watch again. Did I do anything wrong?

  • Did I do anything wrong?

Yes, you deleted the data before syncing. There is no undelete function.

There is a rather slim chance to recover it with data recovery tools - you can check the instructions here: how do I get my activity back if I delete it?
