Inaccurate distances and calories

Hello,

Just bought a garmin vivo active 3 and went swimming today. 37min of swimming and the watch recorded 4km, max speed 30km/h, 1500 Calories. Should I register for the olympics or is it a watch malfunction ?

I'm not a great swimmer, but I do stick to one style only per lap, try to be steady, and take long turns.

Before this I had a fitbit ionic and it was perfectly accurate, my swim style hasn't changed. I use to have another garmin years ago, before the fitbit, and swimming was inaccurate as well. I was hoping the problem would be fixed in this 5 years gap, but apparently not.

On the forums I read people saying it works perfectly. Am I missing something ? Is there a setting I need to change ? (I did set the correct lap length).

Cheers,

Francois
