Deleting Race Events from the Watch

How can race events be deleted from the Race Calendar widget? Deleting on the Connect calendar does not delete from the Race Calendar widget. Events can’t be directly deleted from the widget. People have been complaining about this problem for months but I have seen no posted solution.

  • I managed to fix that by deleting event from calendar on https://connect.garmin.com/modern/calendar (I couldn't make it in mobile connect app, it was showing there and selecting it said "event was deleted" and that's it, it was still showing in calendar). After removing it from calendar I synced my watch by going to watch settings -> connectivity -> wi-fi -> wi-fi sync. After that it was removed from my watch events.

  • Me and I believe the OP along with countless others have experienced this bug with an event completely removed from connect app and web but impossible to get rid of from the watch. I tried a USB sync and even a firmware update by enrolling in the beta program. And countless other tricks. The only solution which worked for me was to set the watch date past the event date to make it disappear.

  • Thanks. I actually just rebooted my watch and that event has now disappeared!

  • Unfortunately that hadn't worked for me. As a matter of fact, the same event as mine was also stuck in two other watches (because it had been deleted by the creator as well as removed from connect) one was an Epix Pro and one was an FR955 (mine was a 7X Pro)

So its a rare bug but its repeatable across models and surprisingly hasn't been quashed in years. I tried to replicate it by creating an event, adding it to my wifes watch calendar, and then deleting the event altogether..but was unable to replicate it. The exact requirement for creating an un-deletable event isn't really understood yet and thats why this bug hasn't been quashed for years (it can be traced in forum posts more than 5 years old)

  • The only way In have found is to wait for the date to pass or do a reset of the watch. I never add an event unless i create it myself. Even if it's on the list I create my own event.  Ive had the same thing happen to me when something changes on an event that was on the list.

  • Yes, setting the watch date/time to after the event and opening the calender widget is the only workaround to remove a stuck event. Takes a minute.
