Are we in agreement that the new message previews....

...where the sender ALONE is seen for 2 or 3 seconds and then the message text is displayed are absurd and should be transitioned to immediate Sender+Message without the waste of time and the animation?

We are agreed. The way this watch handles notifications is unnecessarily clunky. Why is it different than the Fenix/Epix line??!?

And often the screen timeout occurs before the message actually appears - so you see who it is from, but then not the message - that should NOT be happening.

Hardly.

You could also file a bugreport on https://support.garmin.com/

Depending on the country you live you get more or less qualified persons to look at it. I live in the Netherlands, here only morons work at garmin support. I filed 3 bugs that where clearly errors in garmin software, but they offered to replace my watch. That's the only solution they know.

Right, but that's the tricky part: it is not a bug but deficient design instead. This happens in my company too: too many people with too little to do, you end up changing things just for the sake of it.

Not sure how to get this escalated....

Yes, it's by faulty design, but this is the best way to get their attention.

It's also possible to file a feature request (https://www.garmin.com/en-US/forms/ideas/) but I haven't got any result from that.
